In an effort to diversify the game, what if we did this?

5 picks, unrestricted.

6th pick. WILD CARD. This pick is a low ranking player and will count DOUBLE only for the person who wins it. Here is how it works.

My WILD CARD pick is David Toms (ranked 66th). He finishes tied for 40th and wins 33,000. But Dave DT SOLO picks Mark Wilson (ranked 81st) who also finishes tied for 40th and also wins 33,000. Because Mark Wilson is lower ranked, Dave DT SOLO is awarded 66,000 for his Mark Wilson pick. I do not get anything for David Toms.

This should up the ante for picks. Picking a low ranked player who doesn't make the cut doesn't win you anything, but picking a no name who wins the tourney could be a huge pay day. Someone could also pick a no name (ranked 60th) who wins the tourney, but because someone picked a 80th ranked player who makes the cut (even if they only win 16,000) the lower ranked player will be the only one to count. I think this could even affect the other five picks. You will have to carefully weigh potential gain with potential risk.

Player Rankings (2009 PGA TOUR OFFICIAL WORLD GOLF RANKINGS) will be determined at the start of the tourney (thurs morning). ***Note*** Rankings change often so sending picks wednesday night will be most accurate.

Thoughts?

We were out late.
I missed the stracka deadline this week. I had a legit chance to win overall.

If we miss our picks the same players are picked from the previous week? If not playing too bad?

I updated these but internet connection got week and it wouldn't let me publish; dt is looking good again.

Sheesh! That was a pretty dominating performance by Brian Gay!

To clarify...

Alan's Vaughn Taylor (rank 260) pick was the lowest ranking pick to make the cut. The 33,874 he made is then doubled to 67,748.

The WILD CARD picks for Doc Todd, Dave DT Solo and B Team all made the cut and did well (especially DT SOLO"s Davis Love until Sunday!). However, the lowest ranking player to make the cut was Vaughn Taylor. This player's finish is doubled. Well done Alan!

So, for the rest of the season (barring major complaints) we will proceed.

FOUR PICKS (UNRESTRICTED)

ONE WILD CARD PICK (**LABELED "WILD CARD PICK" WHEN SENDING PICKS TO ME** This helps a lot. Then I don't have to look up every single players rank and then decide which one you meant to be your wild card pick... not to mention any names (ALAN) but this will save me a heck of a lot of time.)

In one week, we have a reversal of roles, with Alan climbing from last place, to first place in one week! Lining up to be a good season.

PS On a personal note, I hereby swear to never again pick Jim Ephing conservative Furyk again except for that one Canadian tourney he wins every year. Even then I might not pick him just because.
